What happens if I lose my device and Ford app® is active?

Your lost mobile phone and email can allow access to your FordPass account(s), which can be used to bypass your vehicle's security. Use the steps below to regain security.

  1. Secure your email used to register with Ford app to prevent others from accessing it.
    • Submit a Ford app password reset request to send a security email confirmation to the registered email.
    • Consider changing the password on your email account.

      Important: This may trigger a sign-out on other devices and applications. This helps to ensure no unauthorised person has access to your email.

  2. Perform a vehicle's modem Reset to remove user authorizations. 
  3. Obtain a new or temporary device that is compatible with Ford app.
  4. Download FordPass from the App Store® (iOS®) or Google Play™ (Android™).
  5. Open Ford app and initiate a password reset.
  6. Enter your new credentials on the Ford app login screen after resetting your password.
  7. Check your vehicle list once Ford app loads.
  8. Activate your vehicle again for command-and-control access.

    Important: Only grant Remote Command permission to accounts you know and trust.
