Why is my remote start not working in the Ford app?
If remote start fails in the Ford app, ensure the following preconditions are met before you begin to troubleshoot:
- Remote start must be enabled on your vehicle's instrument cluster. To check your settings:
- Locate the directional arrows on your steering wheel.
- Navigate to Settings > Vehicle > Remote Start > System.
Note: Some panels are different and may be listed as Settings > Advance Settings > Vehicle > Remote Start > System.
- Set Remote Start to On, which is represented by a checkmark.
- The hood must be closed.
- The engine must be turned off.
- The alarm horn is not sounding off.
- Your vehicle is in Park mode.
If all pre-conditions are met and your remote start is still failing:
- Restart your smartphone and attempt to remote start again.
- Ensure your vehicle is not in Deep Sleep mode.
- Check that your vehicle is charged to at least 40% (where applicable).
- If below 40%, the charge can be restored by driving the vehicle for 1-2 hours at highway speeds.
- Being below 40% will result in a failed remote start.
- Check that your vehicle's doors, boot, hood, and tailgate are not ajar.
- Having a door ajar will result in a failed start.
- The Ford app will alert you if one is ajar.
