Ford Credit Data Leak
Ford Credit identified an internal data leak whereby personal information of Ford Credit customers was shared with parties external to our organization. We informed you earlier this year that you are were not impacted by the data leak, however after further investigation we regret to notify you that your account has been compromised.
Unfortunately, this leak encompassed some of your personal information, including identity number, vehicle description, address and contact details being shared with parties external to our organization. Ford Credit takes the protection of personal data extremely seriously and has taken further proactive steps to address the potential risk to our customers. To this end, we have secured the devices of all known parties implicated in the leak and have destroyed or will destroy the confidential data contained on these devices.
Based on our investigation we believe that the data was intended for telemarketing purposes. Therefore, please be extra vigilant should any external parties contact you. We value you as a customer and want to assure you that we have taken extra precautionary measures to protect you and your financial interests.
First, we maintain comprehensive controls and processes to protect your data and constantly improve them to ensure we adapt to the evolving techniques used by criminals to bypass them. We have already refined our controls and processes in light of this compromise to further strengthen our defences and reduce the risk of a future incident.
