How do I perform a SYNC Master/Factory Reset?

Master/Factory Resets are performed using the SYNC* system in your vehicle and the instructions in this article.

Important: 

  • A SYNC Factory/Master Reset erases all stored data. This includes Ford modem activation, vehicle authorizations, call history, text messages, previously paired devices, and navigation favorites.

Completing a SYNC Master/Factory Reset

Select your in-vehicle SYNC version dropdown below for the appropriate steps. 

SYNC 3 and SYNC 4

  1. Access your vehicle.
  2. Ensure that your vehicle is on, running, and in Park.
  3. Select Settings from the bottom panel of your Vehicle screen.
  4. Tap General.
  5. Scroll down and select Reset.
  6. Tap Factory Reset.

Notes:

  • A message will appear advising of the settings that will be removed during the reset.
    • Select Continue to complete the reset.
    • Select Cancel to void your request.
  • All previously authorized users will receive a "Vehicle Access Removed" notification in their Ford app* and will no longer be able to access the vehicle.

SYNC 4A

  1. Access your vehicle.
  2. Ensure that your vehicle is on, running, and in Park.
  3. Tap the Vehicle button.
  4. Select the Settings tab.
  5. Scroll down and select Reset.
  6. Tap Factory Reset.
