How does the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System work? 

The tyre pressure monitoring system - or TPMS - is a useful system designed to let you know if one of your tyres is low on pressure.

Each wheel is fitted with a sensor that, when your vehicle is on, reports the tyre pressure to the cars computer. If one or more of your tyres has low pressure, the system will display an indicator light on the dashboard. You will then need to check the pressures of each tyre.

If you have your spare wheel fitted, or there is an issue with any of the sensors, the indicator light will flash on start-up, before remaining illuminated whilst the vehicle is on.

WARNING:  The tire pressure monitoring system is not a substitute for manually checking tire pressures. You should periodically check tire pressures using a pressure gauge. Failure to correctly maintain tire pressures could increase the risk of tire failure, loss of control, vehicle rollover and personal injury.
