Dear Valued Customer,

This is an important message from Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd  with regards to your active Ford Protect Plan in relation to the newly introduced South African Automotive Aftermarket Guidelines published by the Competition Commission ,also known as “Right To Repair” to be effective 01 July, 2021.

Important to note: Customers who have an existing Ford Protect Plan purchased prior to July 1, 2021 or any new Ford Protect Plan purchased after 01 July 2021, can only service and maintain their vehicles at a Ford Authorised Dealer in accordance with terms and conditions of your Ford Protect Plan.

To gain the tremendous benefits Ford Protect Plans has to offer, all service and repairs must be performed at an authorised Ford Dealership.

Customers are reminded of the benefits of servicing their vehicles, under a Ford Protect Plan at a Ford Authorised Dealership. Benefits include but are not limited to:

  • Ford Protect customers have a choice to service with over 140 authorised dealerships country wide
  • Ford Protect Plans are 100% backed by Ford Motor Company
  • Ford Protect Plans are also transferable; so, as an added benefit to the next owner, this may further enhance the resale value should you ever decide to sell your vehicle
  • Ford Dealers use only Genuine Ford parts and lubricants, for repairs. Ford takes pride in producing high quality replacement parts
  • Ford Dealers use only factory-trained and Certified Technicians
  • Ford Dealers use the latest diagnostic equipment

Should a customer for any reason opt not to service, maintain or repair his/ her vehicle that has a current Ford Protect contract at an authorised Ford Dealer, the customer needs to consider the following: There is no obligation from the dealership nor Ford South Africa to reimburse the customer or any third parties in terms of this Policy where the customer elects to service, maintain or repair their Vehicle at a third party who is not an Authorised Ford Dealer (an “ISP”); Customer will be directly responsible for the repair cost should they elect to service, maintain or repair their vehicle at an Independent Service Provider.

The customer needs to ensure that all the work done on their Vehicle is traceable. The customer is required to ensure that ISPs record such work undertaken by them in their Vehicle’s Service Book or equivalent; and retain the invoices.

If any damage is caused to your Vehicle from work done or spare parts fitted incorrectly, defective parts, non-approved parts fitted by an ISP and improper workmanship, there is a risk that certain provisions of this Policy may be excluded from the coverage of your Ford Protect plan. However, other provisions of this Policy may remain severable and enforceable. Ford and/or the authorized dealer will be entitled to conduct an assessment, at its own cost, to ascertain such damage and liability.
