Ford Protect Right To Repair FAQ

Q. If I had a Ford Protect Plan prior to 01 July 2021 can I service at an Independent Service Provider?

A. You may only service and maintain your vehicle at a Ford Authorized Dealer in terms of the Ford Protect Plan. However, Ford recognises your right to service maintain or repair your vehicle at a Independent Service Provider which is not an Authorized Ford Dealer (an “ISP”) outside of your Ford Protect Plan.

  •  Yes, you can service at an Independent Service Provider please take into consideration the following:
  • Please refer to the contract terms and conditions, which set out your obligations in terms of your Ford Protect plan.
  •  there is no obligation to reimburse you or any third parties in terms of your Ford Protect Plan where you elect to service, maintain or repair your vehicle at a third party who is not an Authorized Ford Dealer (an “ISP”);
  •  to ensure that all the work done on your vehicle is traceable, you are required to ensure that ISPs record such work undertaken by them in your vehicle’s Service Book or equivalent; and the Invoices.
  • If any damage is caused to your vehicle from work done or spare parts fitted incorrectly, defective parts, non-approved parts fitted by an Independent Service Provider and improper workmanship, there is a risk that certain provisions of this Policy may be excluded from the coverage of your Ford Protect plan. However, other provisions of this Policy may remain severable and enforceable. Ford and/or the dealer will be entitled to conduct an assessment, at its own cost, to ascertain such damage and liability. 

 

Q. If I had a Service, Maintenance, Wear Care and Extended Ford Protect Warranty Plan on or after 01 July 2021 can I service or conduct warranty repairs at an Independent Service Provider or anywhere?

A. Yes, you can service at an Independent Service Provider please take into consideration the following:

  • Please refer to the contract terms and conditions, which set out your obligations in terms of your Ford Protect plan.
  • there is no obligation to reimburse you or any third parties in terms of your Ford Protect Plan where you elect to service, maintain or repair your vehicle at a third party who is not an Ford Authorized Dealer(an “ISP”);

Q. I serviced my vehicle at an Independent Service Provider and I would like to purchase a Premium Maintenance Plan or extended warranty, can I?

A. Yes, you can, however we need proof that your vehicle’s services are up-to-date, and you will be required to complete a Multi point Inspection with an Ford Authorized Dealer at your own cost.

 

Q. I did my services late and I would like to purchase a Maintenance Plan or extended Warranty, can I?

A. Yes, you will need to do the Wear Check and Multi point Inspection at your own cost.

Q. My services are up-to-date which were done at an Independent Service Provider; can I purchase an extended Warranty?

A. Yes, you will need to do the Wear Check and Multi point Inspection at your own cost.

Q. If I service my vehicle at an Independent Service Provider and a claim results from the following circumstances what will happen?

  • Any parts fitted incorrectly;
  • Defective parts;
  • Non-approved parts;
  • Improper workmanship;
  • Any violation of contractual obligations

Ford Protect will investigate each case and may impose that certain provisions of the policy be excluded on the affected extended warranty portion or deny a claim.

 

Q. If a customer has a service or maintenance plan for another supplier; can they purchase a Ford Protect plan?

A. Yes, if all services are up to date, and you agree to complete multi point Inspection at your own cost.
