How do I remote start my Ford vehicle?
You can remote start* your vehicle using the Ford app or a smartwatch after activating your modem.
Notes:
- Only use the remote start feature when your vehicle is outside in a well-ventilated area.
- You can disable or enable remote start through the information display.
- Check your local and state laws for any restrictions on remote start systems.
- The Ford app remote commands are not a substitute for not having your key fob on hand.
- Your vehicle still requires the presence of a key to put it in gear to drive.
- You should not leave your key fob at home or inside your vehicle.
Remote Start Requirements
Before you begin, ensure the following conditions are met:
- Your vehicle must be added to the Ford app.
- Your vehicle is equipped with a modem.
- Your modem must be activated.
How do I use Remote Start?

Using the Ford App
- Log in to the Ford app.
- Go to the Vehicle dashboard.
- Toggle the Slide to Start Vehicle icon to the far right of your screen. The request will load, and your vehicle status will change. Once your vehicle is on, the expected run time will appear.
Note: You can open the Climate Settings screen by dragging the bottom of your screen up once your vehicle is on.

Using Your Smartwatch
- Open the Ford app on your watch screen.
- Select your vehicle.
- Access the remote command screen.
- Apple® Watch users - Scroll down to the second screen.
- Android™ smartwatch users - Scroll left to the second screen.
- Slide the Start toggle to the right to start your vehicle.
Note: Slide the Start toggle to the left to stop your vehicle.
Once the command is successful, the icon will turn blue.

How can I personalize the remote start duration?
After remote starting, your vehicle can run for five, ten, or fifteen minutes before shutting off. This duration is configurable in your vehicle settings.
