What services are available for Roadside Assistance when using the Ford app?

The following are services available when using the Ford app* for Roadside Assistance:

  • AA Mayday Emergency Medical Rescue Service:
    • A medical rescue service for unforeseen emergencies that occur in the car, at home, at work, or on holiday.
    • AA makes the arrangements and pays for emergency medical transportation. It includes:
      • Emergency evacuation and transfer to the most suitable medical facility, with a refundable deposit of R5000.
      • Relocation after treatment.
      • Liaison with next of kin to keep them informed.
      • Travelling companions for stranded minors.
      • The transfer of emergency medicine and blood.
      • Telephonic medical and travel advice.
      • A rape crisis helpline.
      • Repatriation of mortal remains or local burial.
    • This service is subject to the conditions set by the external service provider, Netcare 911,and comprehensive terms and conditions are available at www.aa.co.za.
    • This service is only available in South Africa, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
  • Flat tyre change
  • Fuel to reach a filling station: The customer is provided 10 litres of fuel to reach the nearest filling station.
  • AA Battery Service, including Mobile Battery Sales:
    • This mobile battery replacement service is available in all road patrol areas.
    • Battery vans carry new AA batteries at competitive prices.
  • Vehicle Locksmith: Ford will not pay for repairs, the replacement of a lock or ignition switch, or the cutting of keys, but they reimburse the customer's cost of calling out a locksmith, up to R438.90 (including value-added tax [VAT]).
  • Road Patrol Roadside Repair:
    • This service is only available in the major metropolitan areas of South Africa.
    • They do not carry spare parts in their vehicles, so where repairs aren’t possible, a tow to the nearest Ford Dealer is arranged.
  • Recovery towing service; electrical and mechanical breakdowns:
    • This service is only free if the vehicle to be towed is near to the Ford Dealer. Otherwise, additional cost is accounted to the customer.
    • Ford can arrange for an AA tow truck or recovery service provider to tow your vehicle to the nearest Ford Dealer if a customer is in an area where AA patrol vans do not operate.
  • 24-Hour Car Hire
    • A Group B vehicle (subject to availability) could be hired so the customer may complete the journey or return home.
    • The cover excludes fuel and toll fees.
    • This service is subject to terms and conditions set by the car hire company. The customer must be in possession of a valid credit card and driver’s license.
  • The following are the pay-on-use services offered by Roadside Assistance:
    • Accident towing
    • Accident Access Service: The AA call centre makes the arrangement for the vehicle to be taken to the closest Ford-approved body repairer.
    • This service is only available within the borders of South Africa.
  • Return to repaired vehicle:
    • Should the driver continue their journey while the vehicle is being repaired, AA pays the reasonable costs (equivalent to hiring a Group B vehicle at AA rates for 24 hours) of returning the driver (or a nominated person) to collect the vehicle once repairs are completed.
    • The customer is not entitled to the service if:
      • The vehicle is not in roadworthy condition.
      • The vehicle is a motor home or large panel van.
      • The vehicle has a gross mass exceeding 3.5 tons.
      • The fault is with a trailer or caravan.
      • The vehicle is already at a place of repair.
  • Overnight accommodation: All costs are from the customer’s own account.
