Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) User's Manual

The Adaptive Cruise Control system (ACC)1 in combination with the Stop & Go function enables you to maintain a stable speed without touching the fuel pedal and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Your vehicle will automatically accelerate, decelerate, or stop, depending on how far the vehicle in front is from you.

Detailed instructions for the Adaptive Cruise Control function: buttons, activation, suspension, cancellation, change the safe distance, and note.

The button cluster controlling the ACC system is all in the of the steering wheel’s left side, including a button to activate, deactivate, and adjust the ACC function (switch), and a button to set a safe distance from the car in front (3-bar icon).

  • Press the ACC button once; the ACC icon (vehicle + clock) appears white on the dashboard (standby, not active) - Press a second time to turn off ACC.
  • Push the ACC button down once (SET); the ACC icon turns green (active at the current speed)
  • Push the ACC button up once (RES) to restore the automatic accelerator function while being temporarily canceled (brake).
  • Pushing the ACC button up/down once will increase/decrease the speed by 1 km/h
  • Pushing and holding the ACC up/down button will increase/decrease the speed by 10 km/h.

Note:

  • When ACC is active, intervention by the accelerator will cause the system to temporarily give control to the driver. ACC will automatically return to the preset speed when you lift your foot off the accelerator. When intervened by the brake pedal, the system temporarily cancels the standby mode (the icon turns white) and only resumes operation when the reset button (RES) is pressed.
  • The ACC system combined with the "Stop & Go" function is also capable of maintaining a safe following distance, as the vehicle speed is automatically adjusted in accordance with the vehicle in front. The Ford Territory always actively searches, identifies and locks the location of vehicles including Cars, trucks, motorcycles moving in front of the vehicle, inside the scanning area of its cameras and radars.
  • A safe following distance from the vehicle in front is maintained within the speed range of up to 0km/h – Stop, maintaining following distance.
  • The safe following distance can be optionally adjusted from far to near. The button to set the distance is located below the ACC button, with the icon of 3 horizontal lines.
  • To support the ACC feature and visually specify the actual distance, information will be vividly simulated on the dashboard. The distance line is clearly displayed with color levels, depending on the distance and detailed measurements. The drawing of the vehicle in front also changes to the actual vehicle type.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control starts working only when the vehicle is traveling at speeds above 30 km/h. The “Stop & Go'' function can work at any speed, as low as 0 km/h (the car in front stops). If the vehicle stops for more than three seconds, the driver must intervene: Press the “RES” button or press the accelerator pedal to continue operating the system.
