25SE3 - Safety Recall Ford Ranger and Ford Everest: 10R80 Transmission Powertrain Control Module ("PCM") and Transmission Control Module Update

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd (FMCSA) has commenced a Safety Recall relating to certain 2017- 2020 Model Year Ford Ranger and Ford Everest with 10R80 Transmission Powertrain Control Module ("PCM") and Transmission Control Module ("TCM").

According to FMCSA’s records the remedy software for Safety Recall 20S10 may not have been installed correctly during a prior dealership visit. Because the correct software may not have been installed on these vehicles, the underlying condition may still exist. If the underlying condition specified in Safety Recall 20S10 still exists, the transmission fluid pump gears could fail while driving. This failure may result in a reduction of hydraulic pressure within the transmission. Customers may experience a loss of movement resulting from transmission fluid pump gear failure.

There are 159 vehicles affected in Southern Africa (South Africa - 153 and Botswana - 6).

FMCSA or a Ford authorised dealer is contacting customers and advising them to call their dealer without delay to schedule a service appointment for the software update, providing their VIN when doing so. The dealer will inspect the vehicle and carry out the necessary repairs. The software update related to this programme will be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the customer.

Our commitment, together with our dealer partners, is to provide customers with the highest level of service and support.

If customers would like to check if their Ford vehicle is affected by this or any other recall, they can visit www.ford.co.za/support/recalls/ and enter their 17 digit VIN number in the search bar. Customers can also view recent safety recalls by checking their Ford app or by clicking here.
