25S75 – Safety Recall Ford Mustang: Low Pressure Fuel Pump Failure

25S75 - Safety Recall Ford Mustang: Low Pressure Fuel Pump Failure

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd (FMCSA) has commenced a Safety Recall relating to certain Ford Mustang models built between 2021 and 2022.

FMCSA has identified that the affected vehicles may lose fuel pressure and flow from the fuel tank due to failure of the low-pressure fuel pump. Loss of fuel pressure and flow from the low-pressure fuel pump can be due to internal contamination of the jet pump, specifically in low fuel conditions and reduced fuel pump internal clearances, that result in an increase of internal friction and sensitivity to vapour lock. This may cause a lack of fuel delivery to the engine and result in an engine stall. An engine stall while driving increases the risk of an accident.

There are 333 vehicles affected in Southern Africa (South Africa - 330; Botswana - 1; Namibia - 2).

FMCSA is working to provide parts in order to repair the concern. When the parts become available, FMCSA or a Ford authorised dealer will notify the customer to schedule a service appointment for repairs to be completed free of charge.

Our commitment, together with our dealer partners, is to provide customers with the highest level of service and support.

If customers would like to check if their Ford vehicle is affected by this or any other recall, they can visit www.ford.co.za/support/recalls/ and enter their VIN number in the search bar. Customers can also view recent safety recalls by checking their Ford Pass app or clicking here.
