26S49 - Safety Recall Ford Transit, Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom: Automatic Transmission Snap Ring
Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd (FMCSA) has commenced a Safety Recall relating to certain 2026 Model Year Transit, Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom Vehicles.
Some of the affected vehicles equipped with an 8F57 transmission may contain an Electronic One-Way Clutch Assembly built with an unseated snap ring. This condition can result in a sudden and unexpected loss of movement, caused by an unseated snap ring. When shifted into Drive, the vehicle may fail to move forward due to a loss of first gear. Similarly, the vehicle may lose the ability to operate in reverse.
There are five (5) vehicles affected in South Africa.
FMCSA or a Ford authorised dealer is contacting customers and advising them to call their dealer without delay to schedule a service appointment. Ford has authorised dealers to disassemble the transmission of affected vehicles to confirm that the snap ring is correctly seated and to replace any necessary parts at no charge to customers.
Our commitment, together with our dealer partners, is to provide customers with the highest level of service and support.
